Preventing razor burn is relatively simple if the final few passes on your face with the razor are done with the grain, rather than against it. The strokes of the razor blade actually influence the direction that the new hair will grow. So, it is a good idea to “reset” the grain of your beard by ensuring the final few strokes are done with the grain. You may also want to consider exfoliating your skin prior to shaving to help reduce the formation of ingrown hairs. Monitor the condition of your razor regularly, so that you are only using clean sharp blades. If you are uncertain whether or not to replace your razor, try using one with an indicator strip and the guesswork will be done for you.
