Cleansers that are formulating for acne-prone skin will usually say on the packaging that they are “non-comedongenic” and “oil free”, which basically indicate that the ingredients will not clog your pores and worsen your acne or trigger an outbreak. The gentler ingredients will also be non-irritating and wonot cause dryness. Some cleansers contain medications such as benzoyl peroxide (kills the acne-causing bacteria) or salicylic acid (exfoliates dead skin cells). Limit face washing to twice daily because excessive cleansing will irritate your sensitive skin. Pat dry after each wash and make certain to include a moisturizer as your final step – one that contains a minimum SPF of 15 is best.
